Zeynep Balci
Zeynep Balci is a classically trained violinist and music educator with experience in solo, chamber, and orchestral performance. Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, she holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Rhode Island, where she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Concertmaster of the university’s symphony orchestra.
Before her graduate studies in the U.S., she was also the Concertmaster of the Bahçeşehir University Chamber Orchestra in Istanbul. She has performed in a wide range of musical settings, from solo recitals to chamber music, orchestral concerts, and studio recordings. Each experience has helped shape her collaborative and expressive approach to music.
In 2025, Zeynep received the Robert Fountain Performance Award from the Macro Analysis Creative Research Organization, a recognition of her dedication to thoughtful, high-level performance.
Zeynep describes herself as a cheerful and energetic person who loves to talk, connect, and make music both individually and in ensembles. As a teacher, she is deeply student-focused and passionate about making music education feel inspiring and approachable. She works with all ages and levels, but especially enjoys guiding beginners through the early stages of their musical journey. She believes that learning an instrument is a long process—and she aims to keep it smooth, joyful, and grounded in healthy technique from the start.
Her teaching style is responsive and flexible: she listens carefully to each student’s questions and ideas and is always open to trying new approaches based on their needs. She believes every student learns differently and creates individualized lesson plans to match. Parents often appreciate her attentiveness, creativity, and her ability to support both the technical and emotional aspects of learning an instrument.
Zeynep teaches violin, piano, and music theory with a focus on encouragement, curiosity, and self-expression. Her passion for teaching comes from her belief that music is a lifelong companion—one worth sharing generously. She strives to create a space where students can explore music without fear, and where joy, discipline, and personal growth go hand in hand.
Zeynep continues to perform and teach with a genuine love for music and a deep respect for its ability to connect people across cultures and backgrounds.
