Tessa Peters

Tessa Peters is a passionate and dedicated music educator with over two years of experience teaching in the Cleveland school system. Specializing in woodwinds and strings—and equally skilled with brass and percussion—Tessa brings a well-rounded approach to music education that spans from early learners to high school students. She has successfully directed beginning bands, orchestras, and choral groups, always striving to inspire students to explore and develop their musical voices.

What sets Tessa apart is her belief that music education goes far beyond technique and performance. For her, music is a transformative tool—one that fosters leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, self-confidence, and personal growth. Inspired by the safe, supportive environment her own music director once provided, Tessa now aims to offer the same foundation for her students—an inclusive space where they can grow both musically and personally.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy and active listening. She believes that understanding where a student comes from, what drives them, and what makes them unique is key to helping them thrive. “Like flowers,” she says, “students only succeed when given the proper tools to grow.” This nurturing mindset has allowed her to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds—from toddlers to adults—creating a welcoming, student-centered environment where learning flourishes.

Tessa’s global perspective enriches her classroom as well. She has performed in six European countries, including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, giving her a deep appreciation for music’s role in connecting cultures and communities.

Parents value Tessa for her consistent and transparent communication. She keeps families involved in every part of the learning process—from goals and growth to challenges and successes—ensuring they feel just as included and empowered as their students.

Ultimately, Tessa teaches music not just to create musicians, but to help individuals discover who they are through sound, discipline, and creativity. Whether her students are picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for performance, she is committed to guiding them every step of the way—with heart, skill, and an open ear.
