Reed Nixon
Meet Reed
Reed’s love for music began at an early age when he started drum lessons at just 9 years old. At age 12, he discovered the guitar, which quickly became his primary instrument and sparked a deeper passion for music and performance. Growing up, Reed played in bands and participated in music programs throughout the Walpole area. His desire to become a music educator took shape during his junior year of high school when he began helping teach younger students in his local music school’s band program.
Reed believes music lessons should be both meaningful and enjoyable. His teaching style focuses on creating a fun, encouraging, and low-stress environment where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace while building confidence along the way. He strongly believes that anyone can learn music with the right support, patience, and guidance.
Working with children and families comes naturally to Reed, who grew up in a large family surrounded by younger cousins. He enjoys helping students discover their own musical voice and develop skills that extend beyond music itself, including confidence, perseverance, and self-expression. Reed is especially passionate about helping shy or easily discouraged students feel comfortable and successful during lessons.
Reed also values honest and open communication with parents about student progress. He understands that every child learns differently and believes students should never be pushed beyond their readiness simply to meet a deadline. Instead, he focuses on helping students develop effective practice habits and long-term motivation.
In addition to electric guitar, Reed also plays bass guitar, drums, and sings. He is currently completing his second year as a Music Education major at Bridgewater State University.
