Anthony Malinowski, guitar and bass teacher at Maestro Musicians Academy in Cleveland, Ohio

Anthony Malinowski

Anthony Malinowski is a guitarist, bassist, composer, and music educator who brings patience, enthusiasm, and creativity to every lesson. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from Baldwin Wallace University, where he studied classical guitar as his primary instrument.

Anthony’s musical journey began with piano and clarinet before he discovered guitar and bass in high school. His fascination with film scores, rock, and heavy metal inspired him to begin writing his own music and eventually pursue composition at the collegiate level. While at Baldwin Wallace, Anthony composed and performed original works each semester and was selected by his professors to write a chamber orchestra work for the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, which was performed in spring 2025. He is also the bassist for the heavy metal band Khandria, with whom he has performed since 2024.

As a teacher, Anthony believes students make their greatest progress when strong technical foundations are connected to music they genuinely enjoy. He takes the time to learn about each student’s musical interests and incorporates favorite songs and artists into lessons while developing essential skills such as technique, rhythm, chords, reading, coordination, and musicianship.

Anthony describes his teaching style as encouraging, patient, and open-minded. He understands that learning an instrument is a gradual process and helps students recognize and celebrate the small improvements that ultimately lead to significant growth. Rather than comparing themselves to more experienced musicians, he encourages students to focus on consistent practice, persistence, and becoming a little better each week.

One of Anthony’s favorite teaching experiences involved helping a young acoustic guitarist learn to accompany herself while singing songs by Taylor Swift and other pop artists. After developing her strumming, chord transitions, and coordination, she began using those same skills to write songs of her own—an example of how technical development can open the door to creativity and self-expression.

Anthony also values strong communication with families. He keeps parents informed about their child’s progress and provides clear guidance about what students should work on between lessons.

Above all, Anthony wants his students to be excited about making music. His goal is to provide the encouragement, understanding, and musical foundation students need to persevere through challenges, express themselves creatively, and develop a lasting relationship with music.
