Yuna Lee

Korean-born American pianist Dr. Yuna Lee received an Honor’s Scholarship at the Mok-Won University and her piano performance Bachelor degree from the Mok Won University in Korea. Later on, Lee came to the United States and attended the Georgia State University Master Program in piano performance where she was on a full-scholarship and a teaching assistant. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance and received the Travel Grant award from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a result of winning a competition, she participated in the Honor’s recital and was one of many excellent accompanists for the Georgia State University students at the NATS competitions. Dr. Lee was invited to compete in a number of international competitions such as the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition (formerly the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition) in California. She has attended the Aspen Music Festival on MAA scholarship for two years and studied with Gabriel Chodos who is a professor and chair of the piano department of the New England Conservatory. She also attended the Brevard Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute & Festival, and Conservatory of Music in the Mountains Music Festival on full scholarship. She has performed solos, given lectures, piano ensembles, and chamber recitals in Aspen, Atlanta, Athens (GA), New York, Colorado, Boston, Philippines, and South-Korea. She played in master classes with Oril Shaham, Bruce Murray, Nancy Rolan, Pavlina Dokovska, Eduard Zilberkant, Abbey Simon, and several others. Her teachers include Jeong Hee Song,

Hye-Du Jeon, Dr. Geoffrey Haydon, Dr. Evgeny Rivkin and Dr. David Korevaar. She has taught the Applied Music Course at the University of
Colorado, Geogia State University, Mok Won University, Joong Bu University, Pai Chai University, and Cheong Ju University. In 2011, she became a permanent resident of U.S. as an exceptional pianist, so her family moved to Boston. Lee is now a U.S. citizen as of 2016 and is an active soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician. She is a member of New England Piano Teachers’ Association, Music Teachers National Association, and the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association as well.
