Cleveland Piano Teacher Jessie Bao

Jessie Bao

Jessie Bao is a dedicated pianist and teacher from Ningbo, China, now based in Cleveland. She earned her piano performance degree with top honors from Shanghai University and is currently continuing her collaborative piano studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music under Anita Pontremoli. In addition to her academic pursuits, Jessie is an active soloist and chamber musician, performing in community settings such as Judson Park, Trinity United Church of Christ, and Harkness Chapel.

As a teacher, Jessie deeply values equality and respect. She believes every student deserves the same encouragement and attention, regardless of their current playing level. Her lessons are engaging and fun, often incorporating music-related games and friendly conversations that help build trust and connection with her students. Jessie has taught students ranging from ages five to forty, and she appreciates the unique qualities that each individual brings to the learning process.

Parents especially value Jessie’s detailed lesson notes and her consistent communication. She ensures that families know exactly how to support practice at home, while also keeping open dialogue about goals and concerns to best understand each child’s personality.

Jessie’s passion for teaching stems from her own musical journey. Having studied under both supportive and strict teachers, she has chosen to create an encouraging environment where students can learn with joy. She remembers the challenges of her own piano studies and strives to make the process simple, enjoyable, and confidence-building for her students. Seeing her students proud of their progress is one of her greatest rewards.

Outside of music, Jessie enjoys floral design and reading novels.
