Concert to Benefit Adams Street Shul
The Adams Street Shul will present a special Centennial Concert on Saturday night, March 9th, at 7:30 PM, featuring Daniel Broniatowski (violinist) and Colleen Katsuki (piano). The progam is entitled Melodious Gems for Violin and Piano and includes Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 24 in F Major (“Spring Sonata”), Mozart’s Sonata in E Minor (KV 304), and Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano. The Power of Music
My dear readers,
I have been recently reflecting on the purpose of music in our society. Perhaps not coincidentally, I also noticed an interesting story on the CBS evening news tonight. The story is about a man from Tacoma, WA named Don Brittain. The 78-year-old Mr. Brittain has been playing the 24-note “Taps” on his trumpet every evening at sunset for the past two years over Puget Sound. Continue reading

As classical musicians, we need to step down from our academic pedestal and return to the roots of what made our music great – the ability to transcend the boundaries of culture through a universal language that everyone can sing and appreciate.
